1. License Overview
All textual content, conceptual frameworks, modular outlines, and documentation within the Unified Cultural Operating System (UCOS) are licensed under:
Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0)
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
This license grants you the right to use, reproduce, adapt, and distribute UCOS content—even commercially—provided that you:
- Attribute UCOS appropriately.
- Share any derivative works under the same license.
This license ensures UCOS remains open while requiring all future adaptations to also remain open and freely available.
2. Trademark and Identity Protection
The name, acronym, and logos associated with UCOS are not covered by the CC license and are protected under trademark intent and use. Specifically:
- You may not use the name UCOS, Unified Cultural Operating System, or any derivative branding in a way that implies official endorsement or certification without express permission.
- You may reference UCOS in accurate attribution or critique, but must not present derivative works or adaptations as official UCOS modules unless approved or certified under forthcoming governance procedures.
The UCOS name and identity are safeguarded to ensure ideological integrity and prevent dilution or misappropriation of the system’s purpose.
3. Contributor Terms
Anyone submitting materials, expansions, or modules to be recognized as part of the UCOS ecosystem must:
- Agree to license their contributions under CC BY-SA 4.0.
- Grant UCOS the perpetual right to review, edit, publish, or reject submissions based on ideological, cultural, or ethical non-alignment.
- Agree that accepted contributions may be versioned, forked, or integrated under a unified system architecture.
A full Contributor License Agreement (CLA) will be published for all external collaborators.
4. Governance and Compliance (Future Protocol)
The UCOS project will maintain a Validation and Compliance Framework to certify that any system, tool, product, or institution claiming UCOS alignment:
- Meets core ideological and operational standards.
- Demonstrates adherence to the UCOS validation modules.
- May use official UCOS marks upon certification.
This governance system will evolve in consultation with Afrikan-centered educators, technologists, historians, and cultural leaders. Until such time, use of official UCOS marks or branding must be authorized.
5. No Warranty Clause
UCOS is provided “as-is” with no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. The creators, contributors, or stewards of UCOS bear no liability for how the system is used, interpreted, or adapted in derivative works.
